User Groups The LAL Users' Group is an independent organization of scientists dedicated to the development and application of Limulus amebocyte lysate (LAL) technology. Comprised of LAL users from various pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, and other related industries, the primary objective of the group is to guide the membership into the routine usage and understanding of LAL methodology. The Group is not involved with setting industry standards or publicly commenting on official regulatory issues. Meetings
The LAL Users' Group holds periodic meetings to discuss the rapidly emerging technology, reagent evaluation and routine handling procedures, to troubleshoot problem areas, to clarify the impact of regulatory policies and guidelines on test methods, and to develop a network of contacts in other locations. These meetings also serve as an opportunity for members to present information on technical issues faced within their experience with the LAL test for discussion by the Group. All vendors, although not members of the Group, are invited to give non-commercial technical presentations to demonstrate new technology and techniques. Invitation of lysate or instrumentation manufacturers to give presentations is for the purpose of informing and educating the membership, and does not in any way constitute an endorsement by the Group. Steering Committee
Guiding direction of the Group will be a Steering Committee, composed of at least three people elected from the membership, who will decide upon upcoming meeting agendas, coordinate meetings and stimulate formation of committees to address specific topics based on membership concerns. Steering Committee members will serve for a period of not less than two years, and are elected on a rotating basis. The current steering committee consists of:
